My posts of late have had reasons behind them. It's been so long since I posted nothing for nothing. So here we go.

BOREDOM!

Maybe I'll go play some more Uncharted.

Wow, I've been away for a while. Two weeks to be exact. The gf came out for a visit after she left Japan (a month after I left). We hadn't seen each other in 6 weeks, so it was great times. Since I live so close to such a big city, the opportunity to play DC tour guide also allowed me a chance to tour myself. I've already done much of what there is to do here, but not for a long while thanks to the whole mentality of "if you live near it, you'll never see it." It's usually more worthwhile to spend extra time off going to see something you can't see any other day.

She'd only been here once before, while passing through a couple years ago, and thus could only go to a couple museums... out of the dozens that we have, and that's not even including the monuments and government buildings. So we had busy days, but it was great.

Anywho, I'm back now. And looking for a job. I'd love to move back to Chicago, but going out to DC so many times over the last couple weeks has really increased my fondness for the city. I don't think I'd mind living out here after all, despite its near proximity to my family. After all, the nearest county has the highest average income in the country and only like the 11th highest cost of living... would be very beneficial to my aching wallet. Plus, she'd like to move out here too, which is also great (her family lives in Vegas).

So that's that.

Also, since everyone's posting about the bailout...
Cut for meaningless opinion )

I'm selling my old school PSP-1001, if anyone's interested. It's been cared for meticulously (as I am with all my expensive-ass stuff) in a smoke-free home and even still has a screen protector on it. It comes with all the stuff the original launch PSP came with except the soft case, cloth, strap, and UMD with game trailers (the trailers are of games that are now what... 3 years old?). So to reiterate, it comes with a 32mb mem stick pro duo, charger, headphones, and remote.

Also, it's hacked with the latest Dark Alex custom firmware, so you don't have to worry about pandora this or bricking that. You don't even have to buy any games for it. You can download and play any PSP game and just about any PS1, SNES, NES, etc. game on it as well.

I'm not sure how to price this thing, but I have a ballpark figure in my mind based on Amazon and Ebay listings... so just reply to this or email me if you're interested and we'll do business. It ships from Virginia, FYI.

Enter your birthday (just month and day) into Wikipedia. From the page dedicated to that date, pick 3 events, 2 births, and 1 holiday that occurred on the date of your birthday.

No, I didn't get one yet, but my roommate did, so I made a user account and subsequently a PSN ID account for use with my own system when I get it next month.

So add me and I'll add you. We'll have a ball. God, I can't wait until next month. The MGS4 bundle is pretty much the best deal to come out of the gaming industry since the NES came packaged with SMB, Duck Hunt, AND the freaking light gun. I'm so glad I waited... and to think of how close I came to buying a launch PS3 or even a 360. I guess it pays to wait.

In the meantime, the roomie has Resistance and GTA IV if anyone is up for anything.

Peace out.

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In August I ate my brussel sprouts (1 points). Last Sunday I ruled Canada as a cruel and heartless dictator (-700 points). In October I donated bone marrow to [info]ididntsignup4lj in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last Saturday I turned [info]terrant in for tearing the tag off a mattress (3 points). Last Wednesday I put money in [info]fallenangel0886's expired parking meter (14 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-382 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Sincerely,
elliotmg

Freaking sweet.

An iPhone without the phone+contract+$60/mo. And with twice the capacity. Pretty much exactly what I wanted an iPhone for (didn't care for the phone features, but thought of them as a minor annoyance to put up with for an otherwise cool gadget).

However... same price?

It's an iPod, first and foremost. It's advertised as an iPod, it has "iPod" etched into the back. So the primary purpose is for music + occasional video on the side. Easily the best video capabilities of any iPod yet with the landscape view... but the least amount of space?

You'd think that to tout this awesome new video, it'd have awesome space to show it off... but it's the smallest space iPod has had since... ever? Nearly ever?

I can't justify $400 for a 16GB iPod when I can get a 160GB iPod for $50 less. Crazy new features sure are crazy, but in the end, they won't be used nearly as much as the music playing, which is what anyone buying an iPod is looking to do.

Arrived today.

Holy ballsacks this game is godly. I'm sorta glad I don't have Bioshock yet, as incredible as the demo was for that game. I'm gonna be devoting a lot of my life to Metroid for the next couple of weeks.

So yeah. Send me friend vouchers. I should show up in black on the list now.

Apparently I've been living under rock because I've only just been informed of MP3's complete lack of multiplayer. No online. No local. Nothing.

Seriously? In this day and age where everything's online and you're going up against other online shooter powerhouses like Halo and Killzone, how can you NOT? Nintendo's biggest shooting franchise has no multiplayer.

Of course it'll still be a brilliant game, but I've been looking forward to online Wii blasting for ages. I'm gutted.

Just wondering what the getting to not-getting ratio is for this game among my state- and province-side Wii friends. It looks like a rectum-load of fun, but it's obviously a heavily multiplayer title. I've been keen to get this for while, but I'm having second thoughts due to the encroaching megaton that is MP3, which I've already preordered. Still, online Mario soccer madness sounds like so much fun.

Whatchall doing?

Most Anti-climactic typhoon ever.

So hyped up, yet this morning there was a clear blue sky with birds chirping and a nice breeze.

Apparently the storm sped up and passed over night. We slept right through it. It dissipated almost immediately afterward.

And that's that.
